Dr Sam Chenery-Morris is Executive Dean of the School of Business, Arts, Social Sciences and Technology at the 探花社区. Her work brings together academic leadership, regional partnership and a sustained commitment to widening opportunity through higher education. Her focus is on developing an innovative academic portfolio, strengthening student outcomes, expanding degree apprenticeships and employer partnerships, and ensuring graduates develop the skills required by regional and national employers.
Sam believes universities create value through people, relationships and ideas. Her leadership approach emphasises collaboration, inclusion, practical problem-solving and evidence-informed decision making, creating the conditions in which students, staff and communities can thrive.
Sam is committed to strengthening the contribution universities make to the communities and regions they serve. Alongside her role as Executive Dean, she is a Non-Executive Director at East Coast Community Healthcare and a member of the Norfolk and Suffolk Culture Board. These roles connect higher education with health, culture, skills and economic development priorities across the region, supporting collaborative work that creates practical benefits for individuals, organisations and communities throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.
Dr Sam Chenery-Morris has twenty years experience in higher education including teaching, course and School-level curriculum development. From 2019-2022, Sam was Associate Dean for Learning, Teaching and Student Experience, in the School of Health and Sports Sciences. She has held four External Examiner roles at De Montfort, Middlesex, Nottingham and Ulster Universities.
She is currently supervising three PhD students.
Sam’s scholarly interests centre on higher education, student experience, assessment, gender, intersectionality, social justice and the experiences of women in professional education. Her work has contributed to debates in healthcare and higher education, and she has authored and edited journal articles, book chapters and academic texts exploring gender, identity, power and the higher education workforce.

Sam has presented at international conferences in Oslo and Prague and represented the 探花社区 at Keio University, Tokyo. She has been on recruitment trips, namely in Kerala, India and attended graduation ceremony in Mauritius.
Sam is a Senior Fellow at Advance HE and a Member of Royal College of Midwives and Royal College of Nursing. Sam is also a Senior Fellow at Higher Education Academy.
