A distinction-awarded graduate of UEA’s MA in Scriptwriting, Daniel was identified as a “broadcasting star of the future” on the BBC’s New Talent hotlist.

His feature-length debut VS. (Silvertown & Wildgaze Films; developed with BBC Films; distributed by Altitude) premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and received a 5-star review from Jamal Edwards at SBTV and 4-star reviews in The Guardian (Peter Bradshaw), The Times, Metro and Total Film. It was Sight & Sound’s Film of the Week and was long-listed for three BIFAs as well as winning the Hitchcock Award for Best Screenplay at the Dinard Film Festival and the audience award at Univerciné, Nantes. VS. also made the final three nominations for the WGGB’s Best First Screenplay Award.

As a writer, Daniel has had numerous films optioned, commissioned and produced including digital shorts for the UK Film Council and Screen East. In 2017, he was identified as a “broadcasting star of the future” on the BBC’s New Talent hotlist.

Daniel worked extensively as a script reader for organisations such as Scottish Screen and Euroscript, as well as providing freelance script consultation for writers and producers. He has taught screenwriting as part of BBC’s Blast scheme and the BFI Film Academy, had short films produced by the UK Film Council and was selected for BIFA’s Springboard scheme.

He is currently in development on a number of projects including Irish Traveller teen drama Novena (originally a series pilot commissioned by the BBC) and a TV adaptation of the award-winning true crime memoir Married to the Black Widow for Argo Films.
